Job Description
In the role of Marine Engineer, you will be responsible for acting as an independent Marine Engineer on projects.
You will contribute to delivering high-quality and cost-effective Marine Systems designs for SBM products, focusing on SBM’s FPSOs and potentially Floating LNG products.
This position may involve occasional high workloads during project scope peaks.
You could be requested to be on assignment at other SBM project offices or shipyards globally, on short or long-term basis.
Job Requirements
SBM Schiedam seeks candidates with an MSc or BSc degree or equivalent (e.g., Professional Certification) in Marine Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Higher Seafaring College, or General Operational Technology (AOT).
You should have at least 2 years of experience in Marine Systems Engineering and Design, preferably in Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed phases.
Additionally, you should possess:
Deep experience and technical knowledge in conceptual and detailed design of marine and production systems on floating and production units (FSOs, FPSOs, Oil & Gas Carriers, Chemical Tankers, Drilling Units, Semis, TLPs) for the Oil & Gas Industry.
Good interface knowledge with disciplines such as Naval, E&I, Piping, HVAC, Process, Safety, and Regulatory.
Preferably experience working with shipyards, shipboard operations, marine equipment vendors, and manufacturers.
Experience in engineering & design and/or operation of LNG carriers is preferred.
Familiarity with the latest marine systems and equipment technology, with the ability to specify and assess equipment suitability, balancing technological advancement with commercial considerations.
Knowledge of classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV GL, BV, Lloyd’s) and international standards, along with HSSE policies.
Experience with review methods such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, HP/LP reports, SIF reports, etc.
