Where technology, safety, and innovation come together
Chemours Dordrecht is a site where technology is constantly evolving. We work on products and processes that make a global impact - from high‑performance materials to essential chemistry for the future.
As a
Senior Automation & Process Control Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in modernizing and optimizing our assets. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and process safety, directly influencing the reliability and performance of our production lines.
This is a role for someone who enjoys diving deep into the technology, but also excels at setting direction, aligning stakeholders, and delivering complex projects. Your work centres on process safety, future‑proof automation, and strategic modernization.
What your ‘typical’ day looks like
At our Dordrecht site, we currently operate three different DCS platforms (Honeywell, Siemens, and ABB). These systems keep the facility running safely and reliably - but the future demands even greater integration, stronger cybersecurity, and a clear modernization roadmap.
As a senior engineer, you will drive this transformation and take ownership of a successful transition. You will identify bottlenecks, analyse interactions between systems, and determine the decisions needed to build a future‑proof, integrated automation ecosystem. This means not only making technical judgments but also influencing diverse stakeholders: from operations teams on the shop floor to global engineering teams abroad.
At the same time, you remain close to the technical core of the work: analysing complex system behaviour, troubleshooting issues, leading or executing critical configuration changes, and strengthening process safety. You will balance strategic planning with hands‑on deep dives into our systems.
In this role, you will:
Build the roadmap for modernizing our DCS environment
Identify system risks, cybersecurity requirements, and integration challenges
Translate technical needs into long‑term investment proposals
Collaborate with both local and international stakeholders in a matrix organization
Safeguard process safety and compliance with ISA‑88, ISA‑95, and ISA/IEC62443
Solve high‑impact automation and process challenges that directly affect safety and production
It’s precisely the combination of thinking
and
doing that makes this role unique.
What you bring
You are an experienced automation or process control professional who understands how large‑scale production facilities operate. You thrive in environments where systems, interests, and disciplines intersect. What sets you apart is your ability to translate technical complexity into direction and structure.
You also bring:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Industrial Automation, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
10+ years of experience in automation & control
Deep knowledge of DCS, PLC, and SIS systems; experience with Honeywell, Siemens, or ABB is a strong advantage
Experience with transitions to modern DCS environments is a major plus
Knowledge of ISA standards (process safety), OT networks, and cybersecurity principles
Because you interact with international teams and multiple disciplines, you are a strong communicator who asks the right questions, explains clearly, and builds alignment. You are curious, thorough, and pragmatic.
What you get
At Chemours, you have the opportunity to make a real impact on the reliability, safety, and future of our process automation landscape. You will work in a technically advanced environment with plenty of room for growth, specialization, and initiative.
