Senior Legal Counsel

Job Purpose: Berlin Packaging Group is recruiting an in-house legal resource based in Wijchen, The Netherlands to provide general legal support for our Northern Region, which currently includes our subsidiaries in The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, UK, Ireland, South Africa, and Switzerland.

Reporting to the EMEA Legal Director based in Milan, this position will involve the following activities:

Draft, negotiate and review a variety of national and international commercial contracts, legal documents and business arrangements, including distribution and sales agreements, supply agreements, confidentiality agreements, service agreements, agency agreements and various kinds of intercompany agreements Develop best practices, including training materials for business functions, to enhance and expedite contract review process Contribute to the ongoing maintenance, development, and implementation of group policies, procedures, best practices and guidelines including standard form agreements Assist in providing practical and timely legal counsel and business advice to internal stakeholders and strategic business partners across the region (e.g. marketing, finance, procurement, sales, operations, and HR) on a broad range of commercial and corporate issues, including, but not limited to, commercial contracts, strategic transactions, corporate governance, privacy, marketing, advertising, intellectual property, human resources, and other corporate matters, including by liaising with subject matter experts to mitigate potential risks Take care of corporate secretarial matters and corporate governance in the region Assist in the management of data protection and compliance issues Where appropriate, manage outside counsel on complex business arrangements and other legal issues cost-effectively Take care of all legal matters and needs across the region Apply strategic and innovative problem-solving skills and practical business judgment to maximize revenues and savings, minimize risk, and foster long-term business relationships

Knowledge, skills and abilities Dutch law degree. Bar admission At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in an international law firm and/or corporate legal department; prior in-house corporate legal department experience strongly preferred Business proficiency and fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken. A good knowledge of an additional language will be a plus (preferably German) Experience negotiating commercial contracts in a pragmatic way; must have the ability to provide rapid, practical, business-oriented advice directly to business units Ability to work in a multinational, matrix organization required; experience working for U.S. multinational a plus Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a positive and proactive attitude Must be self-reliant, hard-working, service-oriented and proactive Ability to work effectively within all regional teams Strong, clear, concise verbal and written communication skills that can adapt based on the audience; comfort in communicating to senior management and internal clients at all levels of the organization A salary range of €100.00-€130.000 (inclusive of holiday allowance).
