Investigo are currently exclusively partnered with a fast growing international fin‑tech business in Amsterdam who are looking for a Financial Controller to sit in Group Finance.

The Financial Controller will be based in Amsterdam and will support the Group Financial Controller in managing the financial control and reporting activities of the group. This role will assist with financial reporting, budgeting, consolidation, technical accounting tasks, and audit coordination, with a focus on supporting the group’s goals for efficiency, system improvements, internal controls, and team empowerment.

Financial Controls & Governance Support

Review Monthly Country MEC Packs: Help ensure the timely and accurate submission of financial packs from country entities in line with group standards and deadlines.

Assist in Reconciliations & Controls: Support the reconciliation process for the group’s entities, ensuring that financial controls are being followed and discrepancies are identified and resolved.

Help Maintain Group Accounting Policies: Assist in maintaining the Group Accounting Policy Manual, ensuring it is aligned with IFRS and local accounting standards.

Perform Finance Health Checks: Support the review of balance sheets and financial data for each country, identifying potential issues or discrepancies and helping to resolve them.

Technical Accounting Support

Assist with Technical Memos: Help draft technical memos for accounting issues such as Expected Credit Loss (ECL) models, share swaps, goodwill, and financial instruments.

Support the Implementation of IFRS Policies: Assist in implementing IFRS policies for complex accounting areas across the group to ensure consistency in financial reporting.

Contribute to Financial Controls Documentation: Help document internal controls to ensure the group’s financial governance framework is met, supporting consistency in key areas like reconciliations and system access.

Audit & Group Reporting Support

Support Coordination with Audit Teams: Assist with audit preparation and coordination, ensuring that audit teams (internal and external) have the necessary documentation for smooth completion.

Assist with Group Consolidation: Support the preparation of group consolidation tasks, including equity eliminations, currency conversion, and ensuring the accurate preparation of group financial statements.

Track Audit Timelines & Risks: Help track timelines and risks associated with statutory audits, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and issues are flagged promptly.

Reporting & Forecasting Support

Coordinate Group Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the group, ensuring consistent and accurate reporting for all entities.

Support in Budgeting & Forecasting.

Country Expansion Support

Support Finance Onboarding for New Territories.

Assist with Finance Go-Lives: Provide support during the go-live processes of new countries, ensuring that they align with global financial reporting standards and are using the necessary systems for financial transactions.

Ensure Compliance with Group Policies.

Group Office Entity Accounting (Netherlands)

Support Group Office Accounting: Take responsibility for certain accounting tasks related to the group office in the Netherlands, including posting journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with month‑end closing activities.

Help Prepare Local Reports: Assist in preparing financial reports for the Netherlands group office, ensuring compliance with local tax laws, accounting standards, and group reporting requirements.

Support Intercompany Reconciliation: Help resolve intercompany mismatches for the group office, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation.

Ad‑Hoc Financial Analysis & Support

Provide Support to Senior Leadership: Assist with ad‑hoc financial analysis to help senior leadership make informed strategic decisions.

Assist with Technical Accounting Advice: Provide ongoing technical accounting advice and support, particularly on complex accounting issues that require expertise and attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) required.

Experience:

- Qualified accountant (circa 5‑7 years post‑qualification experience).

- Experience in a finance or accounting role, with exposure to general accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations.

- Familiarity with financial accounting, reporting processes, and consolidation is preferred.

Skills:

- Experience with financial reporting software and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle).

- Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.

- Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
