You own the product/system definition, lead design activities, and ensure robust, compliant solutions. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, project managers, and domain experts, you’ll integrate systems at a detailed level and validate designs that meet the highest standards.

Your key responsibilities:
Full scope of responsibilities will be shared during the interview process.
Mechanical Design & Configuration:
Define and maintain mechanical product/system requirements, interfaces, and design rules. Manage configuration baselines and change control for the Hydraulic Ore Hoisting Platform. Define and own the product‑definition and –design of hydraulic ore hoisting systems
Mechanical Design Leadership & Validation:
Lead the mechanical design activities, review outputs, and ensure compliance with standards and quality expectations.
Integration & Safety:
Coordinate system integration and verification activities, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and safety targets.
Project Contribution:
Deliver engineering outputs on time and act as a technical point of contact for and suppliers.
Knowledge & Coaching:
Capture best practices, develop design manuals, and provide technical 3rd line support within the discipline.
Compliance & Accreditation
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identify and mitigate technical, operational, and environmental risks. Promote safety and sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.
Travel
Willingness to travel internationally as needed to mine sites, customers and other Weir locations.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design and integration of large, complex systems (preferably heavy industrial equipment).
Proven experience in leading mechanical design activities and reviewing technical output.
Proficiency with 3D CAD (NX or similar) and familiarity with FEA and system simulation tools; experience with configuration management is a plus.
Background in machinery & system design, structural/mechanical design and hydraulics. Understanding of wear- & corrosion resistant materials is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary integration and manage interfaces at the detailed level.
Clear communication in English (written and spoken).
