We are looking for a Freelance Lead SCADA Engineer with deep Siemens WinCC OA expertise to take ownership of SCADA architecture and technical leadership across multiple long-term infrastructure projects in the Netherlands.

You will act as the Lead Engineer / Technical Lead, shaping how systems are designed, built, deployed, and maintained whilst guiding engineering teams to deliver robust, future-proof platforms.

What you’ll be doing

Technical Leadership Act as the Lead Engineer and subject matter expert for Siemens WinCC OA Provide technical direction across multiple concurrent projects Support, guide, and mentor SCADA engineers Ensure engineering quality, consistency, and best practice

Architecture & System Design Design and deliver scalable, distributed, and high-availability WinCC OA systems Define system structures, redundancy concepts, and integration approaches Translate operational requirements into robust technical solutions Establish engineering standards and design principles

Build, Delivery & Commissioning Lead the implementation and deployment of WinCC OA systems Oversee configuration, integration, testing, and commissioning Troubleshoot complex system-level issues Ensure systems are reliable, maintainable, and production-ready

Lifecycle & System Ownership Define strategies for maintenance, upgrades, and long-term support Ensure systems remain stable and scalable over many years Support operational teams with advanced technical expertise

What you bring

Essential Extensive, hands-on experience with Siemens WinCC OA Proven experience designing and building complete SCADA systems Strong understanding of: WinCC OA architecture, Distributed and redundant systems, system performance and reliability Full SCADA lifecycle (design → build → operation) 3/ 4 years of experience in the industry Experience acting as a Lead Engineer or technical authority (plus) Fluent Dutch (required) Freelance / ZZP availability
