Job description ESG Manager – Health and Safety (H&S)

As ESG Manager - H&S, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving Invesis’ ISO 45001 safety management system (SMS). As a member of the ESG team, you’ll report to the Head of ESG and take the lead for corporate safety matters, engaging with business units in our different geographies to coordinate local compliance. You will support strategic safety initiatives and influence positive safety behaviors.

At the corporate level, you will review, improve and maintain the SMS, which includes our dedicated SharePoint site, ‘Flourishing through Safety’.

Within our portfolio of investments, responsibility for H&S lies with construction, operation and maintenance partners or project (investment) companies. However, you will work with our teams to promote high levels of H&S at investment level and also oversee monitoring and reporting of investment level H&S performance.

While H&S is the main responsibility, the role offers potential to branch out and support a wider range of sustainability initiatives. Following a period of time in post, H&S aspects may not require a full time commitment and therefore candidates who have wider interests and wish to grow their experience, will have the opportunity to do so.

Invesis operates a flexible working policy, with a requirement of a minimum of 2 days in the office or travelling for business. The role is primarily desk / office based (whether working from home or in the office). There is an expectation and opportunity for travel to visit project sites and between Invesis’ offices in the EU and UK.

The Role / What you’ll be doing: We’re seeking individuals who demonstrate integrity in their work, take responsibility for outcomes, and are driven to deliver excellence in collaboration with others. In the role you will: Provide H&S expertise to the business, supporting the Management Board and Business Unit MDs in delivering their safety leadership roles. Input and advise on H&S elements in business planning (as part of the ESG function). Management and improvement of our SMS – Flourishing through Safety (FtS); including maintaining external certification to ISO45001:2018. This includes taking ownership of the FtS SharePoint site. Oversee H&S legal compliance for the business, including ensuring legal registers for each jurisdiction are kept up to date (supported by third party service providers). Provide advice to the business on compliance related actions following any changes to laws. Support & lead the organization and management of audits including accompanying the auditors on any site visits, if required. Lead the implementation of any actions identified, including supporting local management where required. Oversee and coordinate any internal H&S audits as required for the ISO 45001 certification. Support the identification and coordinate the sharing of best practices and lessons learnt across the business. Support H&S training and awareness in collaboration with third-party advisors, including overseeing and maintenance of training records and certifications together with HR. H&S onboarding for new staff. Maintain H&S reporting for corporate and investment level KPIs and suggest improvements where required. Prepare content for various levels of H&S reporting (internal and external). Oversee the maintenance and ongoing improvement of the Invesis Concessions App (ICA), which is the tool used to monitor and report on incidents and monitoring of safety walks at each of our assets. Provide support to wider ESG initiatives where relevant.

What are we looking for: Essential Demonstrable experience in health and safety and practitioner qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent). Experience of H&S management and delivery in a corporate environment. Demonstrable experience of maintaining and improving safety management systems including those that require external accreditation e.g. ISO45001. A good knowledge of European and UK H&S laws and directives. Enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, the Health, Safety and Wellbeing agenda. Strong management skills and the ability to maintain focus and momentum. Excellent communication, engagement and motivational skills. A proactive, energetic approach with the ability to influence and drive change. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, including from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds. Evidence of a commitment to personal development and learning. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality proposals, reports, and presentations. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS) is essential.

Desirable: Experience of working within infrastructure and/or investment related organizations. Multilingual (e.g. Dutch, German, English). Either experience of, exposure to or knowledge of wider ESG and Sustainability related issues e.g. social impact, wellbeing, environmental management. Experience in using MS SharePoint. Experience of managing software platforms and engaging with third party providers who provide safety related tools e.g. for incident monitoring, legal register services etc. Experience with PowerBI dashboards.

What can you expect from us: At Invesis, you’ll join an organisation where people genuinely look out for one another. Expect: A friendly workplace where opportunities to learn and work with experienced colleagues are plentiful. A culture rooted in collaboration, integrity and respect. An attractive salary and benefits package. Support for your personal development through learning on the job, training to strengthen your skills and grow your career, mentoring and much more.

Your work environment: At Invesis, we are extremely proud of our People and Culture. Our hard work and fun together has built a successful business which continues to grow. Our aim is to continue to build on this success by investing in our people, to encourage and support engagement and positive mental health and physical wellbeing.
