For our sea‑going fleet, we are looking for a Ships Electronical Engineer to work on a 5‑weeks on/off rotation. You will be working on one of our modern vessels, such as a hopper dredger, cutter dredger, cable laying vessel, fall pipe vessel, or a jack‑up wind installation vessel. You will encounter a wide range of electrical and automation systems to keep you challenged. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will maintain and optimise the electrical systems on board, ensuring that the ship’s administration related to the electrical systems is up to date and compliant with Van Oord standards, such as the ship's logbook and daily reports.
YOUR IMPACT
You are co‑responsible for regular maintenance of electrical installations
Affinity/knowledge of computer networks, PLC systems
Affinity/knowledge of various electrical voltage networks up to medium voltage level (6 kV)
Affinity or experience / willingness to gain knowledge regarding various drive types
Affinity or experience / willingness to gain knowledge regarding various types of automation systems on board the ships
Assisting in troubleshooting and repairs
Helping prepare logbooks and technical documentation
Participating in toolbox meetings and safety exercises
Working according to international rules and Van Oord regulations

About You
An intermediate or higher vocational qualification in Electronic or Electrical Engineering
Preferably a seaman’s book, valid medical certification, and an STCW Basic Safety certificate
Minimum of three years of experience as an Electrician or in a similar role, preferably in maritime or industrial automation
Knowledge of network systems, communication/survey/navigation systems, and remote system connections
Good PLC and network experience
Specific knowledge of equipment such as ROVs, offshore cranes, cable lay installations, or LNG as fuel is an advantage
Permission to work within EU countries
An ETO‑license is an advantage but not required
