Salt is currently hiring a Backend Engineer for a client of ours in the Netherlands on a Full-time basis.

Backend Engineer – TypeScript / Node.js (TS-PERN Stack) Location: Hybrid within the Netherlands (candidates may be based anywhere in NL) - mainly remote. Role Summary Our client is seeking a highly capable Backend Engineer with deep expertise in modern TypeScript/Node.js environments. This role focuses on building scalable, reliable, and well-architected backend systems within a TS-PERN environment (TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Express, React, Node.js), with minimal exposure to frontend work. The ideal candidate is someone who understands how to design and deliver robust APIs, structure backend services effectively, and work with data at scale — while upholding high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs (REST; GraphQL beneficial) Develop and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas and queries Implement server-side logic, authentication/authorization flows, and service orchestration Contribute to backend architecture decisions and technical direction Ensure reliability, performance, and clean coding standards across the platform Essential Experience & Skills Strong, proven background in backend engineering Advanced proficiency with: TypeScript Node.js Express PostgreSQL Experience designing and documenting modern APIs Solid understanding of backend best practices, clean architecture, and scalable system design Comfortable working in a fully TypeScript-based environment (React knowledge is a bonus but not required — this is a predominantly backend role. xjpvoyz ) Highly Advantageous Experience in an agency/consultancy environment, delivering solutions across varied client needs Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and commitment to high-quality delivery Why This Opportunity?
