The opportunity We’re hiring a

Lead Frontend Developer

to take ownership of the front-end domain at Actuals.io and help us scale both the product and the team. You’ll combine hands-on development with technical leadership, guiding the front-end and UX execution while actively building mission-critical features. You’ll work closely with Product and Core platform teams to translate complex financial workflows into intuitive, high-performance user experiences. This is a pivotal role as we evolve from a high-touch, expert-led solution into a scalable, self-service B2B SaaS platform trusted by finance teams globally.

The starting point Over the past years, we’ve validated our product with international, high-volume customers across Europe and North America. We’ve built a strong backend and data platform that handles real-world financial complexity and delivers measurable financial control. Our customers rely on Actuals for correctness, audit-readiness and trust — and they stick with us.

Now we’re ready for the next phase: making the platform significantly more intuitive, performant and scalable. Front-end quality is central to this transition. Today, the front-end and UX team consists of one full-time developer and one part-time contributor. You’ll take technical leadership of this domain and help us grow it thoughtfully over time.

What you’ll build and own Front-end leadership & architecture

Own the front-end architecture and technical direction of the Actuals platform

Act as team lead for front-end development, mentoring and supporting other developers

Set and uphold standards for code quality, performance, testing and maintainability

Make deliberate architectural trade-offs between speed, correctness and long-term scalability

Improve developer experience through patterns, abstractions and tooling

Be the primary engineering counterpart to Product and UX for front-end topics

Translate complex UX concepts and financial workflows into scalable UI patterns

Build and evolve reusable components and design-system-level abstractions

Actively contribute to UX decisions with a strong technical and user-centric perspective

Ensure consistency and quality across the entire application

Delivery & impact

Ship high-impact features hands-on in a mission-critical B2B SaaS environment

Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, review and iteration

Proactively identify UX, performance and scalability bottlenecks and lead improvements

Help shape the evolution of the front-end team as we scale

What you bring

6+ years of professional front-end development experience

Experience acting as a technical lead or informal team lead

Proven ability to design and maintain front-end architectures for complex, data-heavy applications

Strong product mindset with a focus on usability, correctness and customer impact

Experience working closely with product managers and backend engineers

Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving scale-up environment

Experience in fintech, accounting or other high-trust B2B SaaS domains

Fluent in English, Dutch is a big plus

Experience mentoring developers or growing a front-end team

Familiarity with design systems, accessibility and advanced performance optimisation

Experience interfacing with complex APIs and high-volume or near-real-time data

Interest in shaping engineering culture and best practices beyond front-end
