What you would do as Senior Mechanical Engineer/Technical Lead
As our Senior Mechanical Engineer/Technical Lead you will collaborate independently and in teams on one or multiple projects. Your responsibilities include mechanical (conceptual) design and project management tasks. You will act as a technical lead for a small team of mechanical engineers, ensuring alignment, technical quality and effective collaboration. You will report directly to the R&D Manager.
Responsibilities
Manage projects from initial client contact to product delivery, including conceptual development, design, prototyping, testing, supplier coordination, parts sourcing, production line set‑up and process development.
Maintain communication with team members, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Contribute to continuous improvement projects related to development, quality, efficiency, safety and environmental initiatives.
Support the commercial department.
Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance and coaching to a small team of engineers, supporting their professional development and ensuring awareness of priorities.
Identify, assess and manage technical and project risks, using seniority and experience to anticipate issues and propose mitigation.
Monitor and report project progress, technical status, risks and team capacity to the R&D Manager in a clear and structured manner.
The skills and experience you need
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Extensive experience in product development and design, preferably using SolidWorks.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Familiarity with fine mechanical systems, generators and electric motors is a plus.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills with a natural talent to influence at all organisational levels.
Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, combining technical expertise with coaching and coordination.
Proficiency in Dutch and English, written and spoken.
Own transportation available within a reachable distance from Tilburg.
You are a talented individual with an analytical and conceptual mindset. We are looking for evidence that you are a result‑oriented, problem‑solver by heart who sees solutions instead of problems, and that you maintain a clear customer focus.
You are comfortable taking ownership, providing direction and serving as a trusted technical sparring partner for engineers and management.
Excellent team‑working skills are vital; you should enjoy collaborating with others – being prepared to both help and ask for help when needed.
