Job Description

Technical Delivery Leadership: Provides technical leadership for end-to-end delivery of the risk reporting solution, ensuring SQL implementations across data and reporting layers meet enterprise standards for correctness, performance, and maintainability.

SQL Engineering Practices: Establishes and drives best practices for SQL development, including query optimization, execution plan analysis, data quality validation, and performance tuning.

Risk Logic Ownership: Leads design and implementation of SQL logic supporting P&L, exposure, pricing, and operational risk calculations, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk definitions.

Architectural Stewardship: Provides architectural guidance for data modeling and query design decisions, balancing normalization, performance, scalability, and governance.

Distributed Platform Effectiveness: Ensures SQL solutions operate effectively across distributed database environments, supporting scalability and stable performance during peak processing cycles.

Code Governance and Quality: Defines and enforces SQL code quality standards through structured reviews, version control, and CI/CD integration to ensure controlled change management and auditability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partners with data modelers, data engineers, risk SMEs, and platform teams to ensure technical alignment, clear data lineage, and consistent interpretation of risk measures.

Operational Excellence: Supports operational readiness and resilience of the reporting platform, contributing to issue diagnosis, performance analysis, and continuous improvement during critical processing windows.

Communication and Influence: Communicates technical direction, trade-offs, and risks clearly to stakeholders and leadership, influencing decisions through expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience (typically 8‑12 years) delivering SQL‑intensive enterprise data solutions.

Demonstrated experience designing and optimizing relational data models and SQL logic within complex financial, trading, or risk domains, with strong technical leadership experience.

Mandatory

Expert‑level SQL, including advanced window functions, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.

Strong understanding of distributed data access and query patterns.

Experience with schema design, data lineage, and governed enterprise data models.

Proven ability to lead technical design and code governance through reviews and CI/CD workflows.

Nice to Have

Experience with columnar storage technologies or horizontally scaled database environments.

Familiarity with commodity trading, P&L structures, or enterprise risk management processes.

Background in performance benchmarking, optimization frameworks, or large‑scale data platforms.
