The platform operates thousands of sites globally and maintains leading market positions across building materials, engineered products, and infrastructure-related services.
The organisation combines scale with decentralised operational autonomy and pursues a disciplined capital allocation strategy focused on long-term value creation, portfolio optimisation, and sustainable growth. As part of its Western European division, the group is seeking to strengthen its Strategy & Development function with an experienced M&A Manager.
The Role
The
Strategy and M&A Manager
will play a central role in executing the group’s inorganic growth strategy across Western Europe. Working closely with divisional leadership and local management teams, you will drive transaction processes end-to-end, from origination and valuation through negotiation and closing.
The position offers exposure to both bolt-on acquisitions and more complex portfolio optimisation initiatives, with direct interaction at senior leadership and board level.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Execution
Lead end-to-end M&A processes including target screening, strategic assessment, valuation, financial modelling, due diligence coordination, structuring, negotiation, and closing
Act as project lead on selected transactions, ensuring alignment between corporate strategy, financial discipline, and operational considerations
Develop robust financial models (DCF, trading comps, transaction comps, synergy modelling) to evaluate investment returns and risk scenarios
Drive preparation of high-quality investment memoranda, board papers, and executive presentations
Origination & Strategic Alignment
Partner with divisional leadership to identify and prioritise acquisition targets aligned with strategic growth themes
Conduct industry mapping and competitive landscape analysis to support proactive origination
Evaluate potential partnerships, carve-outs, and portfolio restructuring opportunities
Portfolio Optimisation
Support divestiture processes including asset carve-outs, valuation analysis, and transaction execution
Assess portfolio performance and strategic fit to inform capital redeployment decisions
Contribute to restructuring initiatives where required to enhance asset attractiveness
Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate due diligence workstreams across legal, tax, finance, operations, and integration teams
Manage external advisors including investment banks, consultants, and legal counsel
Act as a key interface between corporate centre and local operating businesses
Post-Signing Support
Support integration planning to ensure value realisation post-acquisition
Monitor synergy capture and performance tracking mechanisms
Candidate Profile:
5 to 8 years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, or private equity
Strong track record of executing transactions within Europe
Advanced financial modelling capabilities with strong valuation expertise
Demonstrated ability to operate in a decentralised, multi-stakeholder environment
Strong commercial judgement and structured problem-solving approach
Ability to influence senior leadership and present confidently at executive level
Experience in industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or capital-intensive sectors is advantageous
Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
MBA, ACA, CFA, or similar qualification considered a plus
Fluent English required; additional European languages are beneficial
Willingness to travel within Europe as required
