Senior Automation Engineer

to join its Equipment Engineering department. The successful candidate will focus on automation aspects of new or upgraded equipment within Device Assembly, Inspection, Labeling, and Packaging areas. The role ensures equipment reliability, readiness, and long-term sustainability, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements. Author and/or review key design documents: URS, FDS, HDS, SDS. Support installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment systems, ensuring compliance with network security standards (e.g., domain settings, firewalls). Assist in FAT, commissioning, and qualification activities. Key Responsibilities Daily Operations Manage automation deliverables in line with project timelines. Support New Product Introductions (NPI) at the Breda site. Participate in equipment testing phases both at vendor sites and on-site. Ensure equipment complies with internal security software standards. Provide progress updates to project management. Implement standardized automation hardware and software protocols. Install required monitoring tools. Participate in Data Integrity Assessments. Conduct preventive maintenance assessments for automation systems. Advise on spare parts for automation assets. Develop and test backup/restore procedures and related documentation. Create procedures for parameter and audit trail reviews. Maintain and update Asset Parameter Lists (APL). Support integration with PI data historian systems. Deliver automation training to Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams. Provide operational hypercare support as needed. Update documentation to support ongoing operations. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Automation Engineering or Industrial Information Systems. Minimum 5 years of experience in automation within biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. Proven track record of independent project execution in cross-functional, global teams. Hands-on experience with labeling and packaging equipment. Familiarity with systems such as Industrial PCs, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and Cognex vision systems. Strong disciplinary knowledge in automation. Experience in regulated environments (e.g., GMP, OSHA, EPA). Willingness to occasionally work outside regular office hours. Fluent in English (spoken and written). Preferred Qualifications Strong automation competencies with a focus on quality and multitasking. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills across diverse teams. Ability to influence and lead projects within matrix organizations. Broad understanding of multiple technical disciplines. Professional and effective communication skills. Skilled in creating and delivering clear presentations. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Creative and practical approach to challenges.
