About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled
Laboratory NIR Analyst Specialist
to provide reliable analytical support within a dynamic refinery or chemical plant laboratory environment. In this role, you will be responsible for executing analytical tests, maintaining advanced instrumentation, developing and validating chemometric models, and continuously improving laboratory processes.
You will work with cutting-edge molecular spectrometry techniques and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and robustness of analytical workflows.
Key Responsibilities – Analytical Operations
Perform analytical tests using NIR, IR, UV, NMR and other spectrometric techniques.
Ensure reliability, accuracy, and timely delivery of analytical results.
Validate analytical methods using statistical approaches.
Instrumentation & Maintenance
Maintain analytical equipment and ensure the performance of instruments worth approximately €1M.
Act as the skill guardian for assigned analytical techniques and instruments.
Guarantee the integrity and robustness of all chemometric models and associated online instruments.
Process Improvement & Development
Initiate and implement improvements in analytical processes, workflows, and methodologies.
Execute complex analytical projects, including writing project proposals and ensuring outcomes are “fit for purpose.”
Drive efficiency and quality enhancements in routine and non-routine methods.
Provide technical coaching and training to laboratory analysts.
Work closely with colleagues within the laboratory workgroup and support cross-functional collaboration.
Ensure customer-focused laboratory support aligned with business needs.
Your Profile
Education & Experience
Bachelor degree (HLO) in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
5–10 years
of experience as a Technical Analyst/Specialist within a refinery or chemical plant laboratory.
Technical Expertise
Strong theoretical and practical expertise in:
NIR, IR, UV, NMR
Molecular spectrometry
Chemometric software and model building
Experience with statistical validation methods including:
PCA (Principal Component Analysis)
PLS (Partial Least Squares)
MLR (Multiple Linear Regression)
Classification techniques
DOE (Design of Experiments)
Additional Skills
Solid understanding of
ISO 17025
quality requirements.
Strong customer focus and communication skills.
Proven track record in training and coaching laboratory staff.
Affinity with automation and IT—considered a strong advantage.
