J. Bekkers Co. specializes in ship management, including technical, operational, and chartering management. Crew management is outsourced but closely monitored by the technical management department. The company focuses on the deep-sea dry-bulk sector with two Ultramax and two Capesize vessels operating mainly in the APAC region. The organization is internationally staffed with a flat hierarchy.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Appointing and maintaining relationships with agents worldwide.

Monitoring, guiding, and controlling processes related to cargo manifests, such as bills of lading and mate’s receipts, in collaboration with owners, charterers, and cargo brokers.

Preparing freight invoices, calculating laytime, preparing voyage instructions, and handling claims with the in-house lawyer.

Assisting the commercial director in reviewing and refining charter parties.

Assisting in reviewing and refining vessel descriptions.

Conducting data analysis on vessel performance.

Handling damage situations involving stevedores.

Monitoring and reviewing voyage performance and conducting post-voyage analyses.

Potentially developing into a Chartering Manager role, based on suitability.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the deep-sea dry-bulk sector.

Experience or affinity with commercial operational matters.

Proficiency with databases and relevant systems such as VESON IMOS / SOFTMAR.

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Willingness to travel globally as required.

Educational and Additional Qualifications:

ISM/ISPS/MLC Auditor training certificates are a plus.

Company Security Officer training certificate is a plus.

Sea-going experience is advantageous.

Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
