Contamination Control Engineer
Job Mission
In this role, you will drive the design and production of ultra-clean high-tech systems that meet the most stringent industry standards, including Grade 1 cleanliness levels. You understand how cooling fluids, cutting oils, and production residues can impact system performance, and you proactively prevent contamination throughout the entire supply chain.
Your mission is to define, validate, and safeguard cleanliness requirements to ensure optimal functionality, reliability, and long-term system stability.
Your Role
As a
Contamination Control Engineer , you are responsible for defining and safeguarding contamination-control requirements across complex systems and components. You play a key role in translating ultra-clean requirements into practical, measurable, and enforceable standards.
Your responsibilities include:
Defining cleanliness requirements for systems and components to guarantee functional performance
Participating in design reviews to ensure contamination-control measures are correctly implemented
Leading functional qualification processes, with a focus on surface analysis and photochemistry
Performing root-cause analyses of contamination-related deviations or failures and proposing effective corrective actions
Developing and maintaining contamination-control design rules aligned with ultra-clean system standards
Driving continuous improvement and strengthening organizational contamination-control capabilities
Accurately documenting specifications, calculations, validation strategies, and test results
Providing tools, methods, and verification techniques to validate cleanliness compliance
Detecting, reproducing, and controlling contamination phenomena, including designing custom tooling where required
Your Profile
Experience & Expertise
Proven experience in designing and manufacturing ultra-clean high-tech systems in highly demanding environments
Experience working with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems down to mbar ranges
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement contamination-control strategies across the full supply chain
Strong understanding of molecular cleanliness and contamination physics
Hands-on experience with validation and analysis techniques such as SEM-EDX, RGA, XPS, and particle detection methods
Experience within high-tech equipment, scientific instrumentation, semiconductor systems, or space-related applications
Education
Masterโs degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline, with a clear specialization in cleanliness or contamination control
Certifications such as FMEA, DOE, or Six Sigma are considered an advantage
