Senior Computer Vision Engineer

Scaled Autonomy · Netherlands, Delft (Hybrid) · Full-time

We build AI autopilot software for interceptor drones. Our Neural Autonomy stack enables GPS-denied flight and autonomous aerial threat interception, running on low-cost commodity hardware, designed for industrial-scale deployment and EU supply chains.

We don't just process images. We give drones the ability to see, navigate, and strike without GPS, without a pilot, without expensive sensors. Everything runs on-board, in real time, on hardware you can actually mass-produce.

If you want to lead the vision stack of a system built to protect Europe's skies, and see your code fly the same week you write it: keep reading.

What you'll work on Owning and advancing our visual navigation and guidance systems used in real autonomous interception missions: GPS-denied positioning, target acquisition, tracking, and terminal approach. Leading the integration of vision algorithms with custom onboard hardware. We have everything in-house, from circuit boards to the highest level of autonomy software. Analyzing failure cases from real flight data and driving fixes that survive the next test. Working hand-in-hand with our embedded team to get maximum performance out of seriously constrained hardware. Flying what you build. Your algorithms live on a drone. Setting technical direction and providing code reviews as the senior voice on our vision team.

What we're looking for Strong experience in 3D computer vision for robotics or navigation systems, especially on resource-constrained platforms. Proven track record with visual navigation, odometry, SLAM, or related perception systems in real-world deployments. Excellent coding skills in Python and C++, with production-level experience. Hands-on experience with camera and camera-IMU calibration and synchronization. Solid understanding of projective geometry, state estimation, and sensor fusion. Comfortable working with real hardware and imperfect data. A builder's mindset: you own problems end-to-end and ship solutions that work in the field.

Nice to have Good intuition for when learning-based approaches make sense and when classical methods are the better call. Experience deploying vision algorithms on embedded or resource-constrained platforms (Raspberry Pi, microcontrollers). Familiarity with robotics middleware and tooling. Background in aerospace, defense, or drone systems. Prior involvement in robotics teams, research labs, or competitions. Driver's license and willingness to support field testing at various locations.

Why join us? You'll lead the vision stack of a system built to scale. Not a demo. Not a paper. A product that flies autonomously, intercepts threats, and runs on hardware cheap enough to produce by the tens of thousands.

We're a small team where your decisions have outsized impact. Everything is in-house: hardware, firmware, autonomy, AI. You'll work across the full system with people who understand it end to end. If your algorithm needs a different sensor mount, we'll print one. If it needs tighter timing, you sit next to the person who writes the drivers.

What sets us apart is adaptation. Our AI doesn't just work for one drone or one scenario; it learns, generalizes, and can be transferred to new platforms and new threats in hours, not months. If that's the kind of computer vision challenge you want, let's talk.

The application process Three rounds: an introductory call, a focused technical deep-dive where you walk us through real work you've done, and a final conversation about fit and specifics. We're looking to hire quickly.

Scaled Autonomy

We started Scaled Autonomy because we believe the drone threat to Europe won't be solved by building more expensive hardware. It'll be solved by building smarter software: software that adapts to new threats, handles real-world conditions, and that runs on hardware cheap enough to mass-produce. Our Neural Autonomy platform is AI-native from the ground up: neural autopilots that learn to fly, see, and intercept across different drone platforms and scenarios. One AI stack, any airframe, any mission. That's what makes industrial-scale autonomous defense possible.

Compensation:

€50,000 – €70,000 + equity
