We have a current opportunity for a SHE Specialist at DSM-Firmenich. The position will be based in Maastricht.
I mportant:
first contract is three months, with the intention to extend it to one year or longer based on performance
You need to the based in the Netherlands or close to the border in Germany/Belgium
Purpose of the role
Provide specialized SHE expertise to support the Competence Lead for Labs & Offices on a temporary basis. The role strengthens global project execution by contributing practical SHE knowledge applicable to laboratory and office environments, supporting the creation, adaptation and rollout of global SHE standards, enhancing competence-building through training design and delivery and translating corporate SHE frameworks into usable, lab-relevant tools and guidance. The contractor acts as an extended expert resource, enabling timely progress on prioritized global SHE deliverables
Key accountabilities
Update, review, and adapt SHE guidance documents for labs & offices (e.g., Lab SHE Handbook).
Translate global SHE frameworks, Requirements, and Life Saving Rules into practical tools and materials.
Develop, structure, and improve training materials; support training facilitation.
Prepare SHE presentations, written materials, and communication content for global use.
Contribute expert input to global SHE projects, including content creation and harmonization activities.
Act as temporary expert resource within the Labs & Offices competence network and collaborate with global stakeholders.
Ensure alignment of deliverables with Group SHE Requirements and internal organizational standards.
Scope of role
Temporary expert role supporting global labs and offices across regions and business units.
Operates without direct reports but in close collaboration with the Competence Lead, global SHE teams, and site stakeholders.
Works on prioritized project deliverables within the global SHE framework (e.g., LSR translation, training concepts, handbook development).
Applies SHE expertise specifically to laboratory environments while ensuring consistency with group standards.
Measures of Success
Delivery of high-quality, accurate and usable SHE materials (guidance, training, presentations).
Timely completion of assigned project deliverables.
Positive feedback from Competence Lead and project stakeholders.
Effective translation of internal SHE requirements into lab-relevant format.
Contribution to training effectiveness (clarity, usability, adoption).Demonstrated improvement in consistency and clarity across SHE documentation.

Global and regional SHE experts and network members.
Laboratory managers and local SHE representatives.
Global project teams working on standards, systems, or training topics.
Cross-functional partners involved in SHE guidance, capability building, or process harmonization.
Education & Experience
Relevant scientific or SHE-related education (technical, laboratory, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, etc.).
Several years of practical SHE experience in laboratory and/or office environments.
Proven experience writing SHE guidance, training materials, or technical documentation.
Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and professional communication materials development.
Experience working in global or matrix organizations is an advantage

Ability to quickly understand and apply internal SHE frameworks and systems.
Strong writing, structuring, and document editing skills.
