Overview

We're currently partnering with a high-performing proprietary trading firm who are looking for an experienced

Compliance Director

in Amsterdam. This is a senior, standalone role offering real ownership of the compliance function. This role would suit someone with knowledge and experience of supporting trading firms or investment banks, working in dynamic, fast-paced environments, across multiple asset classes.

Key Responsibilities Own and lead the firm’s compliance framework, policies, and controls Act as the primary compliance advisor to senior leadership and key stakeholders Manage regulatory obligations, filings, and ongoing supervisory relationships Lead regulatory reporting, reviews, and external examinations Monitor regulatory developments and assess business impact proactively Design and deliver compliance training across the organisation Partner with legal, risk, and external advisors to enhance governance standards

Experience Required Proven compliance experience within regulated investment or trading firms, as a Team Leader/Manager/Senior Compliance Officer. This role could suit someone looking to step up into a Head of Compliance role or a seasoned professional Strong knowledge of MiFID and European financial regulation Proven experience running or building a compliance function independently Background in providing compliance advice in support of a trading, derivatives, or capital markets business Experience in trade surveillance or algorithmic/quantitative trading strategies is a plus Confidence engaging with regulators and advising senior leadership Highly organised, detail-driven, and comfortable in fast-paced environments Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
