For a market-leading, international FMCG company, we are seeking a
Senior Sales Executive (m/f/d) based in the Netherlands
to drive further
international market expansion , open new accounts, and strengthen the presence of well-established branded products across key retail and specialist channels in the BeNeLux region as well as Central and Eastern Europe.
This is a dynamic, hands‑on role with high visibility and real business impact. The position focuses on new business development—identifying and converting new opportunities— while also managing and growing relationships with existing clients.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Development & Market Expansion:
Identify and capture business opportunities with key retailers (grocery channel, specialist stores, etc.), both within the existing customer base and among prospective clients.
Analyze and segment each retailer’s assortment, assess the business potential and estimated market volume of each player, and define an annual strategy to drive growth and win new business.
Account Performance Management:
Monitor the performance of existing customers, focusing on both profitability and sales development.
Actively work to improve these indicators through targeted commercial actions.
Continuously track sales and gross margin via BI tools, implement price increases when required, and closely monitor cost drivers impacting product margins.
Business Intelligence & Reporting:
Prepare structured reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data. Combine BI insights with direct customer feedback and broader market intelligence to deliver clear analyses and actionable business recommendations.
Field Activity:
Maintain regular contact with customers through meetings and calls to review performance and identify new growth opportunities.
Travel frequently to strengthen relationships and stay close to the market.
Problem Solving:
Handle day‑to‑day business issues, including debit notes requiring commercial resolution and operational challenges related to logistics or production that cannot be resolved directly by those departments.
External Representation:
Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry conferences.
Cross‑functional Collaboration:
Work closely and effectively with colleagues across different functions to achieve stronger, more sustainable business results.
Candidate Profile
Professional Experience:
5-10 years of experience in FMCG sales roles with direct field responsibility.
Educational Background:
Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Management, or a related discipline.
Commercial Approach:
Proven ability to manage a synergistic Private Label and Branded business model, combining strong market knowledge, results orientation, a solution-driven mindset, and excellent communication skills, while maintaining close relationships with customers and market stakeholders.
Personal & Professional Attributes :
Proactive, resilient and solution-oriented professional, with strong negotiation and communication capabilities combined with strategic thinking.
Autonomy & Customer Ownership:
High level of autonomy is essential. Strong focus on client relationship management, excellence in execution, high energy level, prospecting capabilities, achievement of sales targets, creativity, structured sales planning, independence, strong sales motivation, and solid financial acumen to understand, manage, and improve customer P&Ls.
Languages:
Fluency in Dutch and English is required; German will be highly valuable.
Location:
To be based in the Netherlands (ideally, centrally located for a good logistics to Dutch, Belgium and German clients if possible).
