What You’ll Be Doing The Market Vice President, Commercial Banking is responsible for the current and potential clients in the market. They build, develop and lead a team of team leaders, individual contributors and support staff to meet client needs and drive business growth.

How You’ll Succeed

Leadership – Provide leadership and effective management of business unit staff to influence employee commitment to the organization, the team and their job, resulting in greater client experience and business growth. Mobilize all CIBC resources to achieve client goals and maximize returns, demonstrate that client business matters to CIBC, and mentor staff through collaborative teamwork to achieve performance objectives. Identify potential new client accounts and make contact or ensure contact by Commercial Banking staff. Proactively identify opportunities to adapt clients to changing circumstances, stay abreast of industry changes, and maintain an internal CIBC network.

Business Development – Own the team’s financial results, including revenue, non‑interest revenue, credit and deposit growth, new client acquisition and DOE management. Partner with key internal and external stakeholders in Commercial Banking. Own the overall client experience, retention and marketing. Work with Portfolio Management on credit portfolio performance, expiries, and RIL items. Use PRO effectively.

Client Development – Team leaders must be active in markets or specialties. Provide senior coverage to the team’s largest clients, manage transaction pipelines, call plans and relationship teams, oversee structuring and pricing of large transactions, and maximize cross‑sell and client penetration through account planning.

Market Development – Segments clients and defines coverage approach. Targets new clients and implements relationship planning disciplines. Applies and develops industry knowledge as needed. Engages in community involvement relevant to the market/team.

People Development – Assign work that supports business priorities, motivate, coach and develop team members. Evaluate performance formally and informally, provide feedback, remove obstacles, and align expectations with business priorities. Build team capabilities via Individual Development Plans, job shadowing, special projects and training. Recommend compensation, rewards and recognition. Manage the talent pipeline, especially in smaller markets. Champion CIBC core values and ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

Who You Are

Client‑first mindset with expert knowledge of CIBC products, services, procedures and credit relationships. Strong local business presence, industry expertise, and experience managing high‑risk, complex relationships, including restructurings.

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of diversified industries, credit products and corporate finance practices needed by mid‑market companies. Results‑oriented, motivated to achieve goals and improve performance.

Fluent in French and English to serve the community.
