Vehicle Designer - Head of Design Team

Interstate Group Pty Ltd is a fast-growing motorhome manufacturing business, and we are seeking an experienced designer to lead the design team.

About the role We're seeking a qualified designer, highly experienced in CAD/CAM programming/design/drafting, to lead new product development for our next generation of vehicles. The role focuses on the creation and development of the vehicle's layout, as well as components and sub-assemblies such as cabinetry, water tanks, brackets, and various fixtures.

Skills and experience Extensive experience designing and modelling using CAD.

Experience designing CAM specs and overall CAM programming.

Biesse CNC CAM software (B-Solid) knowledge is highly preferred.

Experience in OnShape and SolidWorks (or similar) is highly regarded.

Read and implement design work from external teams.

Read and interpret high-level sketches and drawings from the production team.

High level of attention to detail and clean, structured designs.

Motivated, self-disciplined professional committed to continuous professional development and skill improvement.

Technically minded and able to work independently and with a team.

High-level understanding of BOM (Bill of Materials) development.

Has managed a design team or equivalent in the past.

Personal Attributes Professional and able to successfully collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Excited by the exploration of new ideas and concepts.

An iterative mindset, motivated by incremental improvements and experimentation.

Able to meet deadlines. Punctual and reliable.

Able to adapt between the office and the factory floor.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

An engineering background or degree relevant to the position is preferred.

Solid understanding of LEAN manufacturing.

On‑site Hours 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday (core hours negotiable given the nature of this role)
