Senior Communications Advisor

Our client a State Government department is looking for a Senior Adviser, Communications. You will plan, develop and implement communication strategies and content supporting emergency preparedness, response and recovery initiatives. You'll play a key role in coordinating communication activities, producing high-quality materials for digital and traditional channels, and ensuring timely and accurate information reaches diverse audiences. This is an initial contract until 30 January 2026 + Possible extensions Responsibilities

Develop and deliver strategic communication campaigns for emergency management programs. Create and edit content for media, web, social, and community channels. Provide advice and coordination to support messaging consistency across teams and agencies. Manage communication risks, monitor issues, and contribute to reputation management efforts. Support stakeholder engagement and community awareness initiatives to strengthen public confidence and understanding. About You

Proven experience in strategic communications or public affairs within complex or sensitive environments. Strong written, editorial and stakeholder engagement skills across multiple channels. Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience supporting public information or community engagement initiatives (emergency management or government highly regarded). Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, or a related discipline (preferred).
