Job Title: Team Lead for STEM Data (Math, Physics, Chemistry,
Biology)
Role Overview:
The Team Lead for STEM (Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology) plays a pivotal role that
bridges deep academic expertise with AI fine-tuning applications. In this hands-on leadership
role, you will guide a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in creating high-quality data that
shapes the AI models, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and pedagogical effectiveness. Your work will
impact millions of learners, making this a unique opportunity to drive education through
technology at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
β Team Leadership & Management:
β Define project scope and data creation requirements in collaboration with
research and engineering teams.
β Efficiently allocate resources, assign tasks, and guide SMEs, fostering a
collaborative and high-performance culture.
β Conduct final quality assurance to ensure consistency and adherence to the
highest standards.
β Set clear performance goals, track KPIs for productivity, data quality, and project
timelines, and provide feedback.
β Onboard and train new SMEs on quality guidelines, tools, and AI fine-tuning
methodologies.
β Subject Matter Expertise & Content Strategy:
β Act as the ultimate authority for content accuracy in Math, Physics, Chemistry,
and Biology, from foundational concepts to advanced topics.
β Develop, refine, and enforce quality rubrics and style guides for AI responses,
ensuring accuracy, clarity, and pedagogical effectiveness.
β AI Model Fine-Tuning & Evaluation:
β Collaborate with AI/ML engineering teams to translate subject nuances into
actionable feedback for model improvement.
β Analyze AI model performance in STEM queries, identifying weaknesses or
recurring error patterns and addressing them.
β Design sophisticated evaluation datasets to benchmark AI progress and
accuracy in STEM subjects.
β Cross-Functional Collaboration:
β Act as the primary liaison between your subject team and other departments,
including Product Management, Engineering, and Analytics.
β Communicate complex STEM-related challenges and requirements clearly to
non-experts and contribute to the AIβs STEM strategy.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
β Educational Background: A Ph.D. in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or closely
related fields is preferred. A Masterβs degree (M.Sc./M.Tech) from a premier institution
(e.g., IIT, NIT, IISc) with an exceptional academic record is the minimum requirement.
β Subject Expertise: In-depth knowledge of your subject, with expertise covering syllabi
for competitive exams like JEE Mains & Advanced and major
undergraduate/postgraduate curricula.
β Teaching/Academic Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of combined teaching,
research, or content development experience, with significant experience in teaching for
competitive exams (e.g., JEE Mains/Advanced) being a plus.
β Leadership Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) in leadership or mentorship
roles, managing teams of academics, content creators, or researchers.
β Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to articulate complex concepts simply and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
β Ed-Tech Experience: Experience working in an educational technology company,
especially focused on AI-driven learning.
β Published Work: A track record of publications in reputable journals or authorship of
textbooks/study materials.
β Data-Driven Mindset: Comfort with using data and analytics to evaluate content quality
and model performance.
Personal Attributes & Soft Skills:
β Meticulous & Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for detail with a commitment to accuracy.
β Pedagogical Passion: A deep passion for education and an understanding of what
makes learning engaging and effective.
β Analytical Problem-Solver: Ability to break down complex problems into manageable
components and devise effective solutions.
β Highly Organized: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
β Collaborative & Adaptable: Excels in team environments and is open to feedback and
new ideas, especially at the intersection of academia and technology.
