Position Information Young North Public School is located on Wiradjuri Country in a rural setting approximately 2.0 hrs from Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Orange. Our school caters for students from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures with significant populations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island currently at 20% across K-6 and 13.8% EALD students across K-6. The school enrolments sit at around 300 students within 13 mainstream classrooms and 4 support classrooms.

The focus is on educational aspirations through excellence and engagement.

Selection Criteria

Outstanding ability to provide high level instructional leadership to drive student growth and achievement with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy and underpinned by student wellbeing through the application of evidence-based wellbeing strategies that ensure every student is known, valued, and cared for.

Outstanding educational leadership skills, with a demonstrated capacity to lead, support and inspire staff to build a positive culture focused on enhancing staff wellbeing.

Excellent skills to genuinely engage and build on the strong connections with students, staff and the wider community that are a feature of Young North Public School.

Demonstrated capacity to foster distributive leadership, build strong teams and implement initiatives, with a focus on consultative and collaborative practice for whole school improvement and connections across the network.

General Requirements

High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.

Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.

High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.

Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.

Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.

Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Conditions: An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
