The Director Allied Health (Research and Digital) is part of the leadership team within the Office of the Chief Allied Health Officer (OCAHO), providing strategic, authoritative, and expert leadership, advice and direction on state and national strategy and issues that impact the Health Practitioner and allied health workforces.
This role will provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of OCAHO’s work program, particularly in relation to statewide Health Practitioner research capacity building and allied health digital transformation agendas through employing high-level systems understanding and experience. It will build and manage statewide research, translational research, evidence-based practice, and digital transformation frameworks that ensure high-level research and digital strategies result in enhanced clinical practice and improved patient outcomes. The role will work in partnership with the university sector and research institutes, key digital stakeholders, and agencies, and across Health Practitioner professions and Hospital and Health Services. The role will also contribute to the overall functions of the Office and work closely with the leadership team to deliver on OCAHO’s strategic commitments and response to emergent issues.
Your key responsibilities
Provide high level leadership and management in the initiation, development, implementation, evaluation of complex statewide projects including research and digital transformation initiatives that improve the workforce capacity, capability, and outcomes of the Health Practitioner and allied health workforces across Queensland Health.
Provide high level expert advice across facilities and Hospital and Health Services on the conduct and direction of research and digital transformation projects of significant scope and clinical importance to the health system and Queensland Health, with outcomes influencing processes, standards of clinical practice and patient outcomes and in consideration of strategic links to other relevant state and national agendas, policies, and priorities.
Negotiate and manage high value agreements, deeds and contracts with multiple stakeholders across the health system including research partners, higher education providers, Hospital and Health Services, and other public, private, and non-government organisations.
Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate state-wide strategic planning for Health Practitioner research that reflects the diversity of Health Practitioner professions and practice settings, priorities of the OCAHO and Hospital and Health Services and the state and national research and policy landscape.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key Australian and Queensland Government agencies, non-government partners and other stakeholders.
Develop high quality reports, submissions, plans and consultative documents to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders at all levels of Queensland Health and external to the organisation.
Administer, direct, and control the resource and financial management of relevant allied health and health practitioner research program and digital transformation budgets.
Provide authoritative advice to high level internal and external stakeholders, including the Minister, Director-General, Queensland Government senior executives, peak professional associations, and bodies, in relation to a wide variety of allied health workforce and policy matters.
Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
A mandatory requirement of this role is a formal qualification in an eligible Health Practitioner profession (as listed in the Health Practitioners and Dental Officers (Queensland Health Certified Agreement (no.4) 2022) from a recognised tertiary institution which will permit registration with the relevant professional registration board, or eligibility for membership/accreditation with a professional association.
Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of major state-wide strategic programs and initiatives that meets organisational priorities and objectives.
Demonstrated high level strategic leadership to drive and deliver strategic priorities and objectives, build high level strategic partnerships and collaborations with both internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to oversee the implementation of statewide allied health research and digital transformation initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate the allocation and management of funding and manage large, complex contracts and research agreements including monitoring and reporting of funding outcomes.
