Solicitor – Regional, Rural & Remote Outreach Team

About the Role
As part of the multidisciplinary RRR Outreach Team, you will:
Travel on a rotating basis (minimum one week per month) to high-need RRR regions across Queensland to deliver legal advice clinics and community legal education
Provide legal advice and minor task assistance in family law, domestic violence, and child protection matters
Collaborate with social workers, financial counsellors, and community legal education officers to offer holistic support
Deliver outreach services including face‑to‑face and telephone appointments, safety planning, and casework management
Participate in domestic violence duty lawyer services at designated Magistrates Courts
When not travelling, contribute to the broader WLSQ advice team and provide legal services remotely or from our offices
To Succeed in This Role, You Will:
Be admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland and hold a current, unrestricted practising certificate
Have at least 3 years’ post‑admission experience in family law and domestic violence
Bring a trauma‑informed approach and strong decision‑making skills, especially in crisis situations
Demonstrate excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and time management skills
Be flexible, collaborative, and committed to feminist principles and the mission of WLSQ
Be willing and able to travel regularly to RRR communities and work outside standard office hours when needed
Accreditation as a domestic violence duty lawyer and experience in child safety or child support matters are desirable
Being a woman is a genuine occupational requirement for this position (section 25 of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld))
