Wayfair Advertising team owns supplier experience, backend systems, attribution and reporting that form the core of our onsite and offsite advertising business. We are looking for outstanding candidates to join us as full time Software Development Manager. Successful candidates will have led teams that solve complex and broad business problems with simple and scalable solutions, applying appropriate technologies and best practices. You will focus on the supplier experience, great teamwork and communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

You will lead an Agile team at our development center in Toronto, Canada that drives the business, technology, and operations of the Sponsored Experience. This system is integral to the Supplier Advertising Experience platform. You will oversee all stages of the process, from conceptualization and business analysis to technical design and software development, utilizing a range of full stack technologies.

What You’ll Do

Lead and manage a team of 5 - 9 engineers focused on building core experience, as well as BE components that support our Advertising Supplier Experience system.

Own the output of the team both from a technical and performance perspective.

Mentor engineers in the team through training, coaching, code reviews, and 1:1 mentorship providing career and professional development for your staff.

Accountable for the systems built by your team including technical design, development, test, monitoring, and deployment.

Engage your team to construct the technical roadmap and lead planning, delivery and continuous improvement.

Partner with product on defining roadmaps and ensure the team has a compelling mission with well defined KPIs to measure progress and success.

Raise the bar from both a technical and process perspective.

We Are a Match Because You Have

10+ years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in designing and building fullstack scalable platforms

5+ years of experience managing a team of high caliber Software Engineers developing complex, fullstack, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services

Experience designing or architecting fullstack solutions (design patterns, reliability and scaling)

Experience with Cloud Native architecture platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure

Experience in Kafka/Aerospike/Elasticsearch for building a realtime data pipelines

Experience in Java Springboot, Javascript, React to design and build frontend applications

Experience working with relational and non-relational databases

Experience working with event-driven architectures, DDD, and TDD

Experience partnering with cross-functional engineering, Experience Design, Science, Product or Program Management teams

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations

Experience in recruiting, hiring and mentoring/coaching teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective product software engineers

Experience analyzing business and operational metrics

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Computer Science degree or postgraduate study. In lieu of a degree, relevant skills and equivalent experience

Experience in communicating with users and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Experience in the digital advertising or marketing space

Familiarity with the technical aspects of digital / display advertising

Or Familiarity with high speed, ML heavy systems
