We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Work Health and Safety to join our Finance and Business Services team within the Economic Development Division of the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD). This role is pivotal in supporting branches across the division to address and close WHS audit recommendations, while driving strategic HR initiatives that enhance workplace wellbeing and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the Work Health and Safety (WHS) initiatives across the division, with a strong focus on implementing and closing out audit recommendations.

Provide high-quality strategic HR advice and support to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy frameworks.

Foster a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement through proactive engagement and capability building.

Collaborate with Economic Development branches to identify WHS risks and develop practical, sustainable solutions.

Eligibility / Other requirements

Demonstrated experience working in WHS and a strong understanding of WHS compliance frameworks and audit processes.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

Proven ability to lead change, drive results, and improve organisational culture.

A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is highly desirable

Notes This is a temporary position available from 24 November 2025 for a period of four months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part‑time hours, job‑sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
