An exciting opportunity exists for
a Junior Data Scienti st to join a growing internal AI/IT function and work closely with business stakeholders on real-world data, analytics and machine learning tasks. This role is ideal for someone with strong foundational skills who is looking to develop their capability in a commercial environment.
About the Role
Reporting to internal AI/IT leadership, you will support end-to-end data tasks including data preparation, exploratory analysis, model development and the creation of clear, business-ready insights. You will work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to processes, documentation and handover activities.
Key Responsibilities
Acquire, clean and prepare datasets, including feature creation and handling data quality issues
Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends and anomalies
Support development and evaluation of basic machine learning models (regression, classification, simple time-series)
Produce performance metrics, comparisons and concise documentation
Create clear visualisations, summaries and reports for business decision-makers
Write clean, reproducible Python code following agreed standards and version control practices
Participate in team stand-ups, reviews and planning sessions, incorporating feedback
Document processes, data sources and handover materials for ongoing internal
use
What You Will Deliver
Clean, organised analysis datasets and preparation scripts/notebooks
EDA outputs with key findings and commentary
Model training and evaluation artefacts
Simple dashboards, charts and reports for business users
Comprehensive documentation supporting knowledge transfer and reusability
About You
Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or similar
Strong Python skills (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib/plotly)
Proven experience preparing and transforming real-world datasets
Demonstrated EDA capability with clear communication of insights
Understanding of supervised ML approaches and evaluation techniques
Ability to produce well-structured, documented, version-controlled code
Ability to use AI tools to support analysis, coding and workflow efficiency
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Exposure to AWS or other cloud data platforms
Experience with BI/visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau)
Familiarity with MLOps concepts
Time-series or forecasting experience
Optimisation, simulation or operations research exposure
Experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG or supply-chain-heavy environments
