Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for leadership and operational expertise in compensation, benefits, pension and payroll. The position is responsible for designing, developing and communicating a Total Rewards Strategy while maintaining key employee programs and services. Provides technical advice and expertise to all levels of the university to support the University’s mission of excellence. The incumbent oversees Compensation, Job Evaluation, Pension Administration, Payroll, Benefits administration and Absence Management. In addition this role is responsible for activities related to privacy, pay equity and program audits. Incumbent will lead a team of subject matter experts in these areas.
Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of the governing legislation including, taxation, pension, employment standards, workers insurance, privacy, family law and pay equity
Proficient with leadership practices related to policy development, financial management, program development/evaluation, risk management, project management, contract management, customer service, and human resources
Expert knowledge of contemporary best practices in human resources with a focus on job evaluation, absence management, compensation, benefits, payroll, and pension programs; best‑practices, design alternatives and delivery models.
Knowledge of a university operating context and related human resources trends, issues, and challenges
Ability to identify options and integrate solutions for strategic program development
Operational oversight of major human resources functions
Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint (or other presentation software)
Education And Experience
Bachelor degree in human resources or related field
Supporting professional designations for the areas of oversight
Minimum of ten years progressive experience
Minimum of five years in management or leadership roles

This position is regularly required to work on campus in person.
