ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER – CUSTOMER SERVICE (48 HOURS/WEEK)

Responsibilities
Ensure exceptional customer service with a courteous manner to maintain our reputation.
Schedule and direct front‑end staff for efficient and courteous customer service.
Process and balance all types of tender in adherence to company policy and procedures.
Hire, train, and develop front‑end staff.
Update and maintain accurate information in the computerized registers.
Operate a cash register and serve the public courteously.
Calculate hours worked for all front‑end staff and maintain wage margin.
Resolve customer/employee complaints or problems.
Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed.
Assist with setting operational goals for designated areas and enforce those goals to ensure overall store success.
Analyze opportunities and implement business plans to achieve financial objectives (gross profit, wage cost, operational expenses, inventory control, net contribution, shrink).
Oversee daily operation of the PC Express Department with the Department Manager.
Handle closing functions of the store (minimum of 2 nights a week).
Oversee day‑to‑day operations when Franchisee is absent.
Other duties as assigned.
Employee Relations Responsibilities
Direct work of Department Managers, specifically the PCX Manager.
Support strong employee performance by setting expectations, giving feedback, developing capability, and creating corrective action plans.
Coach Department Managers on progressive disciplines.
Plan and direct work of others and discipline employees when required.
Maintain and communicate company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Food Safety, Health and Safety initiatives, and Union contract.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Exceptional customer service skills.
Minimum of 4 years cashier experience in a retail grocery environment, preferably at a management level.
Office and management experience a definite asset.
Proven ability to manage and direct employees.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under pressure.
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
