We’re looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer ready to lead, innovate, and transform how our city moves.
In this role, you’ll take charge of traffic engineering activities across our Civil and Traffic Infrastructure Asset Management Unit. From leading a small, high‑performing team to shaping strategies that improve road safety, parking, and traffic flow, you’ll play a key role in building smarter, safer streets for our community.
What you'll do:
Lead and grow the traffic engineering team, fostering collaboration, professional development, and a people‑focused culture.
Engage with Councillors, the community, and stakeholders, ensuring positive public interaction, effective communication, and strong partnerships.
Assess, design, and deliver traffic solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and accessibility, including speed and traffic safety reviews, parking management, and road/intersection concepts.
Develop and maintain long‑term asset management strategies for traffic lights, lighting, and pedestrian/cycleway networks, overseeing upgrades, renewals, and 10‑year replacement plans.
Create and implement strategies, specifications, and procedures aligned with statutory requirements, corporate plans, and industry best practice.

Deep expertise in Civil and Traffic Engineering, including statutory requirements, asset management, and strategic planning.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to deliver cost‑effective, innovative traffic solutions.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes.
Proven experience in public interaction and community engagement, reflecting the collaborative, stakeholder‑focused nature of the role.

Requirements
You must hold a current C Class Driver’s Licence.
You must hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or another relevant discipline recognised by Engineers Australia.
