The Director, Execution contributes to the overall success of the PESCG Team in Canadian Commercial Banking, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s strategies and objectives. They ensure compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The incumbent specializes in credit and provides financial solutions through risk analysis, deal structuring, credit pricing, negotiations and presentations. They manage a higher‑complexity customer portfolio with business development activities targeting clients in the Private Equity Mid‑Market segment of Canadian Commercial Banking. They ensure portfolio compliance with credit metrics and monitor for negative trends.
Responsibilities
Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Contribute to the profitable development of Canadian Commercial Banking:
Ensure timely analysis, structure and presentation of credit/financial solutions within the defined market area.
Provide prompt and sound recommendations in the analysis and adjudication of credit proposals.
Recommend pricing for loans and credit‑related fees yielding a return commensurate with risk and due regard to profit, administration and competitiveness.
Recommend alternative terms, conditions and covenants for a viable banking proposal.
Restructure marginal proposals into bankable deals where possible.
Guide, coach and counsel Associate Directors and Associates in the Sponsor Coverage group to better serve clients’ needs.
Ensure accurate communication of terms and conditions of authorizations and supervise timely implementation:
Review all written authorizations for accuracy, completeness and clarity.
Promptly follow up for acceptance and react swiftly to issues, amendments, extensions, reporting to senior management and Managing Directors Sponsor Coverage/Portfolio Management as required.
Address issues surrounding the adequacy, quality and completeness of loan documentation and security.
Liaise with Managing Directors Sponsor Coverage to ensure accurate execution and delivery before fund disbursement.
Maintain ongoing quality of the assigned credit portfolio through control and administration of conditions and reporting requirements.
Champion and support a culture of diversity and other initiatives aligned with bank strategy.
Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should guide day‑to‑day decisions.
Qualifications
University degree in business, economics or related field.
Professional designation CPA/CFA or MBA.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
Minimum 5 years of commercial or corporate banking experience with familiarity in loan syndication and global capital markets.
In‑depth knowledge of the bank’s lending policies, practices and procedures and awareness of business trend factors that could affect credit viability.
Solid knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.
Excellent risk assessment and credit structuring skills.
Expertise in complex loan documentation.
Deep knowledge of Canada’s financial services marketplace and key industries in the assigned market area.
Expert sales, coaching, relationship building and leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal skills for business development and team environment facilitation.
Strong computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets and planning tools.
