Position Summary
MLEI’s Civil team delivers projects across diverse sectors, including land development, infrastructure, utilities, building civils, the resources sector, and industrial developments.
We are seeking a technically strong Senior Civil Engineer who is passionate about design delivery and thrives in a hands‑on, detail‑focused role. The successful candidate will play a key part in producing and reviewing high‑quality civil designs, models, and documentation that support MLEI’s expanding national portfolio.
This role offers the opportunity to be part of an exciting growth phase, contributing to the delivery of major projects both locally and nationally, while also supporting MLEI’s broader operations across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Apply
first principles design
across roads, drainage, earthworks, and utility corridors.
Develop and manage complete civil design models in
12d , with integration into AutoCAD and authority‑compliant documentation.
Prepare and review detailed design drawings, long sections, cross sections, and setout data.
Analyse survey data, site constraints, and service information to inform the design process.
Provide technical direction, mentorship, and peer review for junior 12d technical officers and design engineers.
Coordinate with civil engineers, project managers, and external authorities to ensure deliverables meet standards and project timelines.
Ensure compliance with
Austroads ,
Australian Standards ,
MRWA , and council design guidelines (or demonstrate competency with similar frameworks).
Conduct internal design reviews and provide QA sign‑off on drawing packages.
Support
quantity take‑offs, costing , and
staging concepts
during design development.
Where required, assist with modelling in
DRAINS
or
MUSIC
and perform geometric checks using
AutoTurn .
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor of Civil Engineering with
10+ years’ engineering design experience
in Australia or New Zealand.
High proficiency in
12d Model
(minimum 5 years direct design experience managing projects from concept to completion).
Strong understanding of
first principles engineering , including geometric road design, drainage hydraulics, and earthworks.
Proven track record delivering
subdivision, infrastructure, and commercial/industrial civil works .
Skilled in interpreting and incorporating authority requirements and service constraints into design.
Familiarity with
AutoCAD, DRAINS, MUSIC, and AutoTurn .
Chartered Professional Engineer ( CPEng ) or working towards achieving within 12 months (preferred).
Demonstrated ability to
lead technical design output independently .
Desirable Attributes

Ability to manage multiple project deadlines effectively.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Experience mentoring junior engineers, 12d users, and/or drafters.
Exposure to civil site inspections or superintendency (desirable but not essential).
