Location: Melbourne, VIC | Full-time We’re seeking a Cyber Security Engineer with both offensive and defensive skills, someone who enjoys identifying vulnerabilities, validating real-world risks, and implementing practical solutions to close security gaps. About the Role

You’ll work across a variety of client environments to perform penetration tests, security reviews, and technical uplift activities. The role blends ethical hacking with engineering and auditing responsibilities, offering exposure to both testing and remediation projects. Key responsibilities include:

Conducting web, infrastructure, and cloud penetration testing Performing configuration and compliance reviews against recognised frameworks Supporting remediation and hardening across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises systems Providing actionable reporting and assisting clients through uplift and retesting Contributing to security improvement initiatives and technical documentation Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone with strong technical curiosity and a desire to deliver measurable security improvements. Experience in several of the following areas is desirable: Penetration testing methodologies (OWASP, PTES, or similar) Use of industry tools (Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit, Nessus, etc.) Familiarity with CIS Benchmarks and the ACSC Essential Eight Security configuration of Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows environments Understanding of network, identity, and endpoint security Scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) Excellent communication and reporting skills Certifications such as OSCP, PNPT, or eJPT (preferred but not essential) Why Join Empyrean IT
