What we’re looking for
We are looking for a
Director, Finance - Financial Controller
to join our team on a
full‑time and permanent
basis. This position will be based out of our Head Office located in
Liberty Village
and offers a
hybrid work schedule
of 2‑days a week work‑from‑home and 3‑days a week in‑office. The Director Finance, Controller will play a key role in
leading the transformation
of the
financial reporting
function. Reporting to the Sr Director, Finance, the Director Finance, Controller will lead all aspects of the
period close process ,
financial statement preparation
and
supporting documentation ,
balance sheet reconciliation
and will also provide oversight of the
offshored Accounts Payable
and
Accounts Receivable
functions.
What you’d be doing in this role
Drive a culture of continuous improvement and excellence by attracting and developing team members. Set an expectation reflecting the ethos of “we own every figure on our financial statements.”
Set goals in accordance with corporate mandates, communicate milestones, and provide regular feedback to a group of direct reports
Own the financial reporting process, including: month end procedures, consolidation and financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliations
Lead and drive the month end reduction initiative, while ensuring strong internal control procedures and a sustainable go forward process
Analyze and present monthly financial results to key leaders including commentary and review of actuals and variances vs. budget and vs. forecast
Analyze, understand, and explain the reasons for movement for financial indicators and their relationships to non‑financial metrics
Ownership of the Chart of Accounts and Master Data
Monitor the offshore team to ensure compliance with control processes and ensure timely and accurate posting, coding and payment of invoices and invoices as well as tracking of deductions
Provide a leadership role that ensures a proper control environment and Coordinate and ensure that all accounting postings are complete and accurate
Evaluate business controls applied to related areas of control and SOX compliance testing and documentation and implement and improve controls as needed
Skills and qualifications needed to get the job done
5+ years of Financial Leadership experience in the area of reporting and controllership
CPA designation – CA or public accounting experience highly desired and Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset
Experience in CPG or product related companies is highly desirable and beneficial
Strong analytical and technical accounting skills including ASPE, IFRS and US GAAP
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS PowerPoint and MS Word
