Senior Software AI Engineer

To get us to the next stage we are looking for a strong, hands on, developer who can also help elevate our design patterns and standards by reviewing our models and make recommendations as to how we can do it better as well as improve on our current product by writing clean code.

You will have been the critical part in the phase 2 development of our AI product that will be leading the category

You will have taken our ability to deliver solutions to a new level by assisting the Head of Technology to get our design patterns and standards and architecture models to a higher standard across the board

You will have partnered with product management and development teams to ensure efficient delivery of new features as well as eliminating bugs in our current release

You will be an expert at problem solving and finding ways to build the newest ideas into the newest technology

Requirements:

10+ years in a backend development role

Demonstrated skills developing in backend REST APIs in .NET 8+ and C#.

Experience designing and implementing scalable, secure, high-availability microservices in cloud environments (Azure preferred).

Strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts: caching, rate limiting, resiliency patterns (circuit breakers, retries), and observability.

Experience with Microsoft AI framework, such as Semantic Kernel or Agent Framework

Experience integrating with Large Language Model (LLM) providers (e.g., Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic) and utilizing embeddings for semantic search and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

Hands‑on experience designing, testing, and iterating on prompts, system messages, and tool‑calling strategies for agentic workflows.

Experience with Elasticsearch, especially in keyword and vector‑based queries, multilingual capabilities, and performance tuning.

A proactive mindset, identifying and suggesting improvements to our solutions and driving continuous improvement

Advantageous Skills

Experience with Python, particularly for AI/ML tooling.

Experience with other agentic frameworks, such as CrewAI, LangGraph, or LangChain.

Experience building solutions in e-commerce, retail, or similar domains (product catalogues, search & recommendations, checkout flows, pricing & promotions).

Understanding of user journeys and UX patterns for conversational or guided shopping experiences.

Experience leading technical design discussions, mentoring other developers, and influencing architecture decisions.

Additional points to note We are a hybrid work model so come into the office 1-2 days per week with the rest of the time being remote. Our office is in Queen street in the CBD
