Known for our wide range of quality products and exceptional customer service, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team and help us continue to deliver outstanding service to our customers and their pets.
Role Overview
As the Assistant Store Manager at Habitat Pet Supplies, you will be responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the overall management of our friendly and established Altona store! You will assist in leading a dedicated team, ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day operations of the store, and contribute to achieving sales goals. Your role will involve everything from inventory management to team member development, all while maintaining our high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in managing the store’s daily operations, including stock management, ordering, promotions and visual merchandising
Assist in guiding and motivating the sales team to achieve store goals, ensuring exceptional communication and teamwork
Support the Store Manager in the induction, training and development of team members in line with HR policies and procedures
Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring every customer has a positive experience
Have experience using and managing POS, rostering and inventory management software with efficiency
Maintain a proactive and positive attitude, adapting to challenges and changes as they ariseWork calmly under pressure, demonstrating strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) policies and procedures
Be flexible with working hours, including availability on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
Display a genuine love and concern for the well‑being of animals
Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 20kg is required as part of the role.
Key Skills
Proven experience in a senior management role within a retail environment
Strong leadership skills with a history of successfully guiding and motivating teams
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
Confidence in handling the induction and training of staff
Excellent organisational skills and a problem‑solving mindset
Commitment to WH&S standards and procedures.
Experience working in the pet supply industry.
