We are seeking a respected and technically capable Technical Director – Ecology & Environmental Approvals to guide our growing team in Brisbane. You will combine your deep understanding of ecology with your expertise in environmental legislation, biodiversity offsetting and approvals to drive project excellence, client trust and business growth.

The Opportunity This role is ideal for someone who thrives on combining technical rigour with strategic leadership.

You will:

Lead multidisciplinary ecological and environmental approvals projects across sectors such as infrastructure, renewables, and resources

Provide high-level advice on environmental impact assessments, offset planning, biodiversity strategy and approvals pathways

Shape and implement business strategy for the ecology and approvals practice, supporting team development and growth

Build trusted relationships with clients, regulators and partners, offering credible, solutions-focused guidance

Mentor and support a team of talented ecologists and scientists, fostering excellence, collaboration and curiosity

Champion innovation in environmental management, ensuring projects deliver measurable ecological and community outcomes

About You You are a seasoned environmental professional who can see the big picture and deliver it.

You’ll bring:

A degree in ecology, environmental science or a related discipline (postgraduate study valued)

10+ years’ experience in ecology, environmental assessment, and approvals, ideally within consulting or government Proven expertise in offsetting frameworks, biodiversity legislation and environmental approvals processes

The ability to translate technical findings into strategic advice for clients and stakeholders

A collaborative leadership style and a passion for developing others

Professional accreditation (e.g. EIANZ) and active engagement with industry networks
