JOB PURPOSE:

Partnering with the APAC Managing Director and Executive Leadership team, the APAC Human Resources Director will play a critical role as a strategic business leader. The HRD will develop and lead the talent strategy for the APAC Region (Australia, New Zealand and Japan).

The HRD will lead the regional HR team and partner closely with region leadership to build a talent agenda that aligns with the local business priorities. The successful candidate must gain a deep expertise on the business and talent dynamics to develop process and programs that build a pipeline of talent and succession plans for future leaders. The HRD will also play the critical role of coach and advisor to senior business leaders regarding people engagement and strategy.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree required; major in Industrial/Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, business, psychology, or other related field preferred

Prior Human Resources Generalist and Leadership experience is preferred

Ideally, experience in a manufacturing environment and US headquartered company with business partnership across APAC region

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly lead the region HR team of human resource managers and generalists

Build relationships and collaborate with Centers of Excellence (COE) in the US to leverage, communicate and, in some cases, customize process and programs in a way that will resonate with the APAC region.

Identify and diagnose talent and organizational issues, and partner with business leaders to develop and implement solutions

Lead process to identify high potential talent and ensure their continued development and advancement

Act as a coach to help leader and team members on most effective ways to be successful in a functional, global matrix

Partner with executive leaders to ensure succession plans are in place for all critical roles

Build workforce plan that includes Talent Acquisition strategy that includes universities to source and staff a diverse workforce, and ensure a positive on boarding experience

Serve as advisor and coach to business leaders and managers around people development and change management practices

Ensure employee concerns are investigated with appropriate outcomes and follow-up

Assess culture and develop action plans to ensure a positive, engaging, and supportive workplace.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Understanding of, and some experience with, most or all of the core aspects of Human Resource Management (staffing; employee relations; compensation & benefits; performance management; leadership development; training)

Subject matter expertise in Australian & New Zealand employment laws and process

Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items

Previous talent management and succession planning experience preferred

Experience leading large scale change plans

Proven ability to influence decision making

Proven people leader with disposition to coach and develop future leaders

Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise

Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations

Strong expertise in developing solutions based upon facts/data analytics

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to present their point of view in varied business situations
