Butcher Store Manager - Flinders + Co

📍 Melbourne, Australia

Altro Flinders + Co

Job Description

Are you a qualified butcher with experience in managing fast paced retail stores and a passion for some of the world's best meat? Then we have the role for you! We are on the lookout for a new Store Manager to lead the team at our South Melbourne Market store.

About the role We have an exciting new position opening up in the coming weeks to join our family as Store Manager. We are looking for our key playmaker - our Store Manager - to come on board and go on the journey of helping to drive excellence in leading our team of butchers and cashiers through quality and service.

You will have the full backing of one of Australia's best meat wholesalers, and the opportunity to learn more about the full supply chain that provides our quality products. Some of our brands include Cape Grim, Robbins Island Wagyu, Roaring Forties Lamb, Otway Pork, Black Opal Wagyu, Japanese Wagyu and much much more.

South Melbourne Market is a busy and energetic work environment. Lots of foot traffic and customers, a great atmosphere, and a demographic who is happy to spend for quality.

We are looking for someone with a dynamic ability to take our premium meat offering, including value added ranges, to the next level.

You will be reporting directly to the director of the business who will remain working within the shop part time, but you will be expected to run the retail business as if it were your own.

This encompasses all day to day operations at the shop, including but not limited to:

Recruitment, staff management, rostering, staff training

Production, cutting, boning and value adding

Shop presentation, staff practices and customer service standards

Quality control, hygiene practices, cleaning and organisation

Window management, stock control, ordering and presentation

Price management, specials, yields, costings

Cash handling, store opening and closing practices, security

Profit and loss, setting and achievement of agreed targets

Remuneration An extremely attractive, industry leading salary is on offer based on the experience and expertise of the successful candidate.

Skills and experience We are looking for someone who has previously run a busy butcher shop, ideally managed a team, and has experience in dealing with a wide variety of customers. You are a trade qualified butcher, with the ability to beautifully present a market shop window, and quickly ideate and develop new product and range ideas based on customer feedback.

This is a very high turnover shop with plenty of moving parts. Most important to us is a positive, can-do attitude, and an ability to set the tone, the standard, and the pace for the whole business.

Staff management will be key to the market experience, as we want to ensure that our level of service matches, or exceeds our already premium product quality and range.

If this sounds like you, hit apply and send through your resume and cover letter.

Hours Working days in the market are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, with expected hours to be discussed with the candidate.
