About the Role We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced quantity surveyors to join our

Melbourne

Construction, Projects & Assets (CP&A) team, as a Senior Consultant or Associate Director.

What You’ll Do

Advise lawyers, principals, contractors, subcontractors, developers and funders on contractual, technical and commercial issues that relate to construction and engineering projects.

Help clients resolve commercial disputes by establishing clear, commercial strategies, promoting early resolution.

Where litigation or arbitration is unavoidable, assist as an integrated part of our clients’ legal teams or with external legal counsel, providing support across the entire dispute life cycle, from research and analysis to mediation, expert determination, arbitration, or trial proceedings.

Provide support to quantum and/or delay experts involved in the preparation of expert reports for the purpose of dispute resolution.

Provide support and assist senior members of the team involved in the preparation and defence of contractual claims on construction and engineering projects.

Analyse project data such as cost records, labour hours and quantity measures.

Core quantity surveying duties including commercial and contract management and contract administration.

Support in obtaining professional qualification, e.g. chartered quantity surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or similar

Qualifications and Experience Ideally, you will have:

Between 4 to 6 years (Senior Consultant level) or 5 to 7 years (Associate Director level) claims, commercial, contract administration, cost engineering, quantity surveying and/or disputes advisory related experience

A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline

Experience assisting with the preparation of quantum expert reports for the purpose of adjudication, litigation or arbitration

Experience assisting with the preparation and negotiation of claims in a commercial/claims driven environment on construction/engineering projects

Experience in the quantification and costing and/or commercial management of construction works

Site‑based construction/engineering experience

Excellent written and spoken English

The ability to work on multiple client matters at one time with limited supervision

The ability to work with senior team members and clients in demanding situations with strict deadlines

A strong work ethic and integrity and high level of professionalism

Excellent MS Word and Excel skills

Candidates that don’t have the necessary experience but have a great attitude and are keen to develop their career in a construction claims environment will be considered. Preference will, however, be given to candidates that have some demonstrable exposure to:
