Job Description
The Senior Pipeline Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Pipeline (Eng) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Pipeline (Eng) discipline. The Senior Pipeline Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. They impact a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the Pipeline (Eng) team and other related teams, ensuring compliance with guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering for onshore and offshore pipeline systems, requiring thorough knowledge of design codes and hands-on experience with relevant software.
Conduct conceptual, FEED, studies, and detailed analyses and designs according to project specifications, codes, and standards; demonstrate expertise in pipeline engineering and apply knowledge to various situations.
Prepare clear and accurate design calculations, reports, and procedures, managing time effectively to meet deadlines and budgets.
Communicate complex issues clearly to establish understanding.
Understand project scope, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements; identify concerns early and take initiatives to address issues.
Identify scope changes, raise change notifications, and support Variation Orders with necessary documentation.
Assist in estimating bids, including reviewing technical queries, execution statements, and manhour estimates.
Raise technical queries for missing information and clarify work scope, adhering to procedures and standards.
Prepare engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications as needed.
Participate in finalizing deliverables and ensure compliance with specifications and integrity.
Attend project review meetings, vendor meetings, and site surveys as required.
Provide technical direction and review work of designers related to Pipeline Engineering.
Review design reports and procedures, and support procurement activities, ensuring compliance and timely procurement.
Update weight reports, review vendor/subcontractor submittals, and perform design verifications.
Support fabrication queries, identify defects, and keep the Lead Engineer informed of activities and concerns.
Contribute to progress reports, review vendor data, and participate in audits.
Assist in responses to customer and regulatory reviews, and capture lessons learned.
Guide less experienced engineers and ensure proper hand-overs and reassignments as needed.
Prepare and review specifications, analyses, and evaluations for pipelines and components.
Qualifications
8-15 years of experience in Oil and Gas, primarily in detail design, with a major contractor or consultant.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Master’s preferred.
Strong knowledge of design techniques, analysis methods, standards, and codes.
Registered Professional Engineer or professional society membership is preferred.
Proficiency in engineering software and ability to work independently.
Excellent command of English, both oral and written.
Focus on HSE, TQM, and cost-awareness.
Effective organizer, motivator, and supervisor, with a focus on improving work effectiveness.
Flexible in reassignments, supporting colleagues, and adapting to different sites or offices.
