About Cryoperl

Cryoperl Australia is a specialised provider of high-performance cryogenic insulation systems and industrial installation services across LNG, hydrogen, petrochemical, and industrial gases sectors. Our teams support major EPC contractors and operators in delivering safe, high-quality and efficient construction and maintenance solutions.

We are growing and expanding our project delivery capabilities — and we’re looking for an Engineering Project Estimator who wants to play a pivotal role in major industrial projects internationally.

About the Role

The Engineering Project Estimator plays a critical role in securing successful bids and ensuring commercial excellence for Cryoperl’s projects across the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and industrial gases sectors. You will develop accurate, detailed, and commercially aligned cost estimates for RFQ-driven installations, maintenance jobs, and service-based projects.

Working closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams, you will interpret technical documentation, analyse project scopes, and prepare competitive tenders that meet Cryoperl’s standards for safety, quality, and profitability.

Responsibilities

Project Estimation & Costing Analyse project documentation (P&IDs, drawings, specifications, SOWs). Identify scope, materials, equipment, labour and estimation requirements. Quantify and cost materials, subcontractor services, utilities, consumables and installation systems (perlite/insulation). Develop detailed cost models, BOQs, pricing schedules and budgets. Assess construction methodology and installation sequence to establish realistic labour and schedule allowances. Apply factors for safety, site logistics, compliance, climate, and risk contingencies. Provide cost and methodology inputs for baseline project schedules.

Supplier, Contractor & Market Engagement Obtain, evaluate, and negotiate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. Assess scope completeness, technical compliance, and commercial competitiveness. Maintain strong vendor relationships within industrial construction and insulation markets. Monitor market trends, pricing shifts, freight, and cost drivers.

Tender & Proposal Preparation Prepare cost inputs, assumptions, clarifications, and pricing breakdowns for tenders. Work with Proposal Managers to finalise pricing for RFQ submissions. Participate in client clarifications, bidder conferences, and technical meetings. Support bid/no-bid decisions through technical and commercial insights.

Project Coordination & Internal Collaboration Collaborate with engineering, procurement, operations, and construction to ensure estimates reflect current practices. Provide cost support during project execution, including variations and scope changes. Contribute to project handover by communicating estimating assumptions and risk allowances. Participate in post-tender and post-project reviews.

Systems, Tools & Process Improvement Maintain documentation accuracy, version control, and organised file management. Develop estimation templates, tools, cost databases and historical pricing records. Recommend improvements to estimating processes and pricing frameworks. Promote continuous improvement, safety, and compliance.

Qualifications

Essential Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or related. 5+ years estimating or costing experience in industrial construction or process plant projects. Proven experience preparing estimates for large-scale industrial or engineering projects. Strong capability in interpreting drawings, technical specs, and engineering documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern estimating/planning tools.

Highly Desirable Experience in LNG tank installation, cryogenic insulation or heavy industrial construction (Hâ‚‚, ammonia, petrochemical, EPC). Familiarity with cryogenic insulation installation methods and industrial plant construction sequencing. Experience supporting major RFQs/tenders for EPCs or specialised industrial service providers.

Key Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and numerical capability. High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Commercial acumen and strong risk assessment capability. Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and stakeholders. Strong organisational and documentation skills. Collaborative across engineering, procurement, operations, and commercial teams. Alignment with Cryoperl’s values.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Estimate accuracy vs actual project cost outcomes. Win rate and profitability of awarded projects. Timeliness and completeness of RFQ and tender submissions. Quality and clarity of assumptions, methodologies, and breakdowns. Internal and external stakeholder satisfaction. Currency and reliability of supplier and market pricing data.
