Role Description Arcadis is seeking an experienced and motivated

Project Director

to join our Mobility Advisory Ontario team. This senior‑level role reports to the Business Unit Director, Mobility Advisory, Ontario. You will support the Business Unit Director, collaborate with other senior members of the Mobility team, and serve as a technical mentor with a focus on key clients including MTO, Metrolinx, City of Toronto, VIA Rail, CIB, among others. The role requires a recognized leader with extensive client experience and technical leadership in transportation planning and engineering. You will contribute to the business unit’s strategic plan by expanding the firm’s practice to deliver top‑quality transportation planning and engineering projects to existing and new clients.

Business development is a key component. You will strengthen the project pipeline through client relationship management, marketing, and leading proposals—both writing and reviewing/approving them. As Project Director you will lead the delivery of multidisciplinary projects, manage key clients, and contribute significantly to our success.

The successful candidate will also manage risk on major projects by leading independent technical reviews and addressing findings. At this level, you will consistently aim to enhance the business strategically and individually by executing the business area strategy to achieve tangible results for Arcadis.

Role Accountabilities In the Project Director role you will provide leadership, technical advice, quality control, and comprehensive oversight as required. You will offer consultancy services, develop innovative solutions beyond standard codes, and build the Arcadis professional profile at the regional, global, and industry levels. You will manage delivery of specialized project components and assemble effective teams for successful outcomes. You will manage technical risk, value design processes, deliver integrated design programs, and meet key performance milestones.

You will support technical development of staff, including coaching and mentoring. You will build and maintain strong client relationships throughout and after project completion, identify new client opportunities, and provide technical input to bids, ensuring staff deliver on schedule and budget while exceeding client expectations.

You will promote the regional and global culture of the Mobility Advisory business, evaluate staff competency, identify training needs, develop and manage project team performance, and ensure effective project management and communication. You will lead on innovative transportation planning and engineering solutions that resolve complex problems while developing Arcadis’ talent pool.

Independent technical reviews of multidisciplinary projects, encouragement of innovative thinking, and promotion of company services during client engagement will be part of your role. You will manage key client relationships, support bid management, and provide input to technical aspects of bids to produce high‑quality successful pursuits. You will stay informed of industry developments, technical and legislative changes, and seek opportunities to build a strong professional profile through conferences, publications, and committee participation.

Qualifications & Experience

20+ years consulting experience on municipal projects of significant scale and/or complexity.

P.Eng. Ontario.

Proven experience managing and nurturing relationships with key clients to ensure long‑term partnerships.

Visionary approach to driving innovation and implementing cutting‑edge solutions in the transportation sector.

Strong analytical skills and decision‑making capabilities to support business growth and client objectives.

Ability to promote and champion the organization’s goals and values.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear presentations and discussions with clients and stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen.

Strong capability in mentoring and developing talent within the organization.

Relevant experience in leading development and implementation of engineering solutions.

Previous experience in project management roles with extensive project management experience.

RAQS qualified (preferred).

Salary Range The salary range for this position is $114,590 to $212,810. Actual salaries will vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
