Psychiatrist Consultant

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead specialist psychiatric care within a neurorehabilitation hospital setting. You’ll oversee treatment for individuals with acquired brain injury and associated conditions, guiding a multidisciplinary team using a bio-psycho-social, recovery-focused model.

You’ll take clinical responsibility for detained and voluntary patients, provide expert psychiatric input, and ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead psychiatric provision within the hospital’s neurorehabilitation service.
• Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act.
• Conduct regular reviews and support care planning with the MDT.
• Supervise and advise medical and clinical colleagues.
• Chair weekly clinical meetings and oversee goal-setting.
• Liaise with external professionals and families to support recovery.
• Participate in the non-residential on-call rota.

About You

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• GMC registration with licence to practise.
• MRCPsych (or equivalent).
• Approved Clinician and Section 12 status.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Experience in neuropsychiatry or rehabilitation desirable.
