Director, Finance and Technology at Fred Victor

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing a complete range of accounting and financial management services for Fred Victor, which includes in‑depth and complex analysis of financial data, and meeting GAAP and funder requirements. The Senior Financial Analyst will be assigned a designated set of programs with full accountability for analysis and reporting for these cost centres.
This role also participates in the internal and funder budgeting processes and ensures that the financial sections of funder reporting are done in a complete and timely fashion. The Senior Financial Analyst will also track program revenues, associated program receivables, and reconcile them to ensure the completeness of revenue and the disbursements of all types are fully and accurately accounted for. They will also participate in special projects in the Finance department.

What You Will Do:
Coordinate/assist in producing key monthly financial reports for management with specialized reports for finance leadership team and Finance Committee.
Become deeply knowledgeable about the financial situation for designated programs including reporting requirements to funders and assist program director on funding proposals.
Assist program managers/directors with developing and managing their budgets, and related variance analysis, forecasts, and other reporting.
Reconcile revenue accounts (Rent Roll) and maintain revenue binders in a timely manner.
Prepare and reconcile schedules such as fixed assets, deferred contributions, and leases.
Assist the annual budget planning process working closely with Director of Finance.
Lead funder and external report submissions, including statistics, while ensuring funder requirements are met.
Liaise with external auditors on a mid‑year and annual basis, having thorough working papers available.
Assist the annual charity returns and other ad‑hoc reporting working closely with Director of Finance.
Resolve day‑to‑day issues and engage staff in problem‑solving, process improvements and ongoing change management.
Ensure staff adheres to applicable regulations and overall good business practices, including promoting excellent customer service.
Maintain excellent relationships with funders, all levels of management, and staff.
Prepare general ledger entries, adjustments, internal transfers, and various account reconciliations, focusing on fund management and complex reconciliations.
Perform tasks of other finance staff on an emergency basis, and other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
Post‑secondary education in finance and accounting.
CPA (or near completion), with 2‑3 years of not‑for‑profit finance experience an asset.
A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
Computer literacy with MS Office Suite, Excel (Advanced), Sage 300 or other financial software.
Direct experience in developing and preparing complex financial reports.
Demonstrated experience preparing and monitoring budgets.
Ability to work under high pressure and manage a variety of time‑sensitive reports and requirements.
Ability to work independently, with other members of the team, and senior management.
High level of customer service; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Proven initiative, judgment, decision‑making, problem‑solving, and strong analysis capabilities.
Detailed and highly accurate work in a high‑volume setting.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule as some evening and weekend work may be required of all levels of staff, funders, partner agencies, and other stakeholders.
Working Conditions
The work involves interacting with a wide range of people, handling multiple demands and regular stress effectively.
The workstation is in the administration office; the employee sits for many consecutive hours at a computer station.
Occasional working‑from‑home shifts are possible; self‑motivation is required.
Regularly scheduled shifts with flexibility for evening and weekend work as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
Comprehensive salary (CA$100,000.00 – CA$120,000.00).
4 weeks of vacation to start + 1 float day.
Generous paid sick leave allowance.
