Cobol Developer

Are you a highly skilled Cobol Developer ready to tackle one of the largest and most critical financial calculation systems in the industry?

Role We are looking for an experienced developer to take ownership of mission-critical development within a high-volume IBM z / OS Mainframe environment. This complex platform is responsible for accurately processing vast streams of incoming data, specifically high-volume XML files, to calculate and distribute complex royalty payments.

This role involves end-to-end involvement in the system lifecycle. You will develop, maintain, and enhance robust Cobol programmes and associated JCL / Procs, translating highly complex business rules into precise code. A significant focus will be on optimising the ingestion and parsing of enormous XML data structures and ensuring the absolute accuracy of the resulting financial calculations. You will be expected to debug, performance-tune, and provide expert third-line support for this enterprise-level system.

Experience You must possess significant commercial experience as a COBOL developer in a large-scale z / OS environment. This includes deep proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and utility programmes.

Crucially, demonstrable prior success in handling and processing complex, high-volume data streams, particularly parsing large XML file architectures.

A meticulous approach to complex financial or royalty calculation logic and strong autonomous working capabilities.

Strong analysis experience as well as unit testing.

Start in December or January and ability to work remote.
